Test Management Tools

Choosing a test management tool can significantly improve a project's efficiency, but with so many options available, it's important to select one that fits your team and project needs. While many teams use free, readily available tools like Google Sheets or Confluence pages for test management, dedicated tools offer valuable features that can streamline workflows, enhance collaboration, and provide useful metrics. To learn more about the capabilities and usefulness of the tools, you can check out our Test Management tool comparison down below.
To make an informed decision, you should first define a few key factors:
- Team size: The number of people who will be using the tool.
- Budget: The amount of money allocated for the tool.
- Integrations: The systems the tool needs to connect with.
- Stakeholder Agreement: Whether clients, management, and other key stakeholders need to approve the choice, especially if it's a paid tool.
By defining these factors upfront, you can present a well-reasoned case to your team and management, ensuring a smoother transition and a more successful testing process.
The comparison shows the difference of the tools and also allows you to filter out and compare only the tools that you are interested in.

The tools for comparison were selected based on experience of QA engineers from TestDevLab and professional articles describing user feedback available online.
There are two parts of the comparison document:
- First is the comparison table that contains the most useful factors that are often used to compare different tools. Above some of the factors you can find a filtering option that will help you find the tools that meet your project specifications. You can activate several filters at the same time to filter out applicable project factors.

- The second part is the Test Management tool ranking tab - here you can see how the tools rank up based on most important factors. In the Rankings tab you also can filter graphs based on your needs.

Be aware that there are also some drawbacks for this comparison table
There are many different sources of information and not all information is applicable to all tools. For example, Azure DevOps online user ratings are not specifically from Test Management perspective so we had also our colleague experiences collected to show specifically test manager perspective and it is very different from overall user ratings and feedback found on the internet. Unfortunately our colleagues don’t have experience in all the tools that we’re looking at, so we have to also use reviews available online on specific factors.
Pricing
There are different services that the tools offer and not all tools have public information about the pricing so pricing is another factor that can’t be completely compared to other tools. When looking at pricing you want to pay attention to the “Can be used as a Project management tool” column as the price could be higher just because the package also includes Project management services - not only test management services. For tools that didn’t have public pricing info available - this information is based either on email communications directly with the tool client service or user feedback.
