ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) is a civil rights law in the United States that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities. It mandates that public spaces, services, and digital content be accessible to people with disabilities, ensuring they have the same opportunities as everyone else. For software and websites, this means making sure they are perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust for all users.

Example: To comply with the ADA, a company developing a website must ensure its online forms, including the login page, are accessible. This includes making sure the page is fully navigable using a keyboard, has high-contrast text for users with low vision, and includes text alternatives for images so they can be read by screen readers. This allows individuals with visual or motor impairments to use the site effectively.
