About Bonza Music

Bonza Music is a real-time collaboration platform built around live, interactive sessions rather than pre-recorded content. Users join live rooms to communicate and collaborate in real time, whether in one-on-one sessions or larger multi-user groups, which makes stable, low-latency audio and video performance central to the product experience.

As Bonza Music prepared to scale, the team wanted independent validation that its core experience would hold up not only in ideal conditions, but across the networks, devices, and usage patterns its users rely on every day.

The challenge

For a platform where the value lies in the live interaction itself, even minor delays or quality drops can immediately affect how users perceive the product. Bonza Music needed a partner who could verify that the experience felt genuinely real-time, and who could quantify where performance held strong and where it began to weaken.

The team also needed coverage beyond basic functionality. In addition to confirming the main user journeys, Bonza Music wanted objective audio and video benchmarking, realistic network simulation, and a repeatable QA approach that could support future releases as the product and user base grew.

Our approach

TestDevLab partnered with Bonza Music as its dedicated QA team, combining functional testing, usability evaluation, and telecom-grade audio/video measurement to give the client a complete picture of product quality. This approach provided both practical bug detection and objective performance data.

We started with exploratory testing across the platform’s critical areas, including login and forgot-password flows, homepage behavior, account and settings pages, group and session management, session creation and editing, live rooms, and notifications. We validated host and participant roles in multi-user scenarios, since collaboration products often behave differently depending on who initiates the session and who joins it.

For the communication core of the platform, we measured audio quality using POLQA and mouth-to-ear latency, and we assessed video performance through frame rate, delay, and visual consistency. Testing covered stable wired connections, Wi-Fi, and a controlled packet-loss progression ranging from 0% to 20%, allowing us to map how the experience changed under increasingly challenging network conditions.

To ensure the results were reliable and repeatable, we combined real devices, synchronized capture, controlled network simulation, open-source and industry-standard tools, and proprietary internal scripts. That allowed us to go beyond subjective impressions and deliver evidence the team could use with confidence.

Value delivered

The results confirmed that Bonza Music’s strongest asset was its audio experience. Under optimal conditions, the platform achieved near-perfect audio quality with POLQA scores around 4.5, while wired mouth-to-ear latency stayed close to 31 ms — low enough to feel effectively instantaneous in live interaction.

Under Wi-Fi and packet-loss scenarios, audio remained usable and stable, while video proved more sensitive to network stress and concurrent load. That distinction gave Bonza Music a realistic understanding of where the product performs best and where it needs further hardening before scaling further.

Just as importantly, the engagement gave the client a practical QA foundation for the next phase of growth. Bonza Music received a clear roadmap for ongoing testing, prioritization guidance based on real usage patterns, and a repeatable methodology it can extend into continuous validation, performance monitoring, and automation.
